Who we are

Narcotics Anonymous is a non profit fellowship of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. NA is not affiliated with any other organisations.

Sub-sites within the nzna.org domain are set up under the same governance as this site to provide information about Narcotics Anonymous to interested parties and fulfill service functions on behalf of our members.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Events

If you register events on the website we collect the data in the form and store this including the IP address and other technical details to help enable spam detection. We use the Google ReCaptcha Service to reduce spam.

Email Lists

If you subscribe to the PDF meetings list mailout, your email address and IP address is collected for spam detection and to provide the bi monthly mail out. Email campaign performance data is also collected. This is highly restricted and will not be shared or used for any other purpose.

For other email lists the email addresses and content are visible to the other members subscribed to each list. This is retained by Google Groups indefinitely.

Media

If you upload images to the website, including in flyers and documents, you can remove the embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website or in flyers.

Contact forms

We only collect information about you to be of service, to communicate with you, or to improve our services. When visitors submit information on the site we collect the information you submit, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. We use the Google ReCaptcha Service to reduce spam, and Google Forms.

We collect information in the following ways if you provide information to us:

in a service or help request
via meeting update requests
subscription forms for email lists
via the help line, including your phone number if provided by Caller ID.

Any personal details collected in our Help, Contact, Events and Meeting Update forms are not shared with any third parties and remain strictly confidential. We only use this information to contact you directly to respond to your service requests.

Zoom

We use Zoom for virtual meeting hosting. Additional information is collected by Zoom which is outlined in their privacy policy here: https://zoom.us/privacy/

Google Workspace and Services

WooCommerce

We use WooCommerce to provide our online store for NA literature. The privacy policy for WooCommerce is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/

If you create an account on our webstore, the information in your account is retained indefinitely.

ASB Bank and Xero

We use Xero and ASB Bank for our financial and accounting platforms. When you pay for literature or purchase other services, including registering for NA events or making contributions and you choose to pay by direct credit your bank account information including the payee full name is stored on our bank’s and Xero systems and is kept as required by law for at least 7 years.

Paypal

We use Paypal to process credit and debit card transactions on our literature store. You can pay for your order via bank direct credit and not use the Paypal payment gateway. Paypal privacy policies can be found here: https://www.paypal.com/en/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full/

Cookies

We use cookies to provide functionality on the website, including spam detection and prevention, and operating our literature store.

This information is only used to help improve our services and is not disclosed, released or shared with any third parties other than those who directly or indirectly provide services to support our website and services.

If you complete a form or order on one of our sites you are opting-in to saving your name and email address. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you place another order. We do not share this information with any third parties.

If you have an account and you log in to the sites, we may set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Your contact details and collected data will only be shared within the New Zealand NA fellowship service committees. This is done to the minimum extent possible to fulfill the stated need. We do not share this data with any other parties without your consent.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account, you can request to receive your personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Forms may be checked through automated spam detection services. Some contact details may be shared with the NZ Fellowship Services Office which provides services and products on behalf of Aotearoa New Zealand Narcotics Anonymous.

If you register a meeting and provide your email address through our Meeting Update form this information is stored in our BMLT meeting application. While meeting information is shared to other BMLT servers and with NA World Services, your email address is not shared with anyone else.

Your contact information

Your contact information is stored in a private area of the web site and not accessible to the public. If you would like your contact details removed from our site we will honour your request.

How we protect your data

We maintain regular platform updates, plugin updates and security patches.

All form data including Email addresses and passwords are encrypted when they are transferred between your browser and our website.
